• The ability to be focused, patient, quiet, and still. In today’s modern age, attention spans are shorter than ever. Chess can help kids slow down in a fast world. 
• How to keep calm in stressful situations. How to be resilient when your back is against the wall and make good decisions.
• Creativity and problem-solving skills. Thinking outside the box. First, addressing “what is the problem?” and then dealing with it the best you can.
• Sportsmanship. Teaching kids to shake hands and be respectful to their opponents after every game. 
• How to be a better human. Be kind and thoughtful.
• Community. Using the chess world to foster relationships.
